As one of the leading MPF service providers in Hong Kong, Manulife is always at the market forefront, striving to provide members with MPF investment solutions that suit their needs and help pave the way for an enjoyable and relaxing retirement life. In the last issue, we introduced the concept of Target Date Fund and also briefly explained how different types of fund cater for different investment styles.
The seven new “Retirement Funds”# launched by Manulife recently are under the “Target Date Fund” type. Retirement Fund is a mixed asset fund with an asset auto-rebalancing mechanism, and is designed for MPF members who want to have a simple retirement investment solution to manage their MPF investments and are too busy or have less time to regularly monitor their investments. If members hold a long term investment view up to and even beyond their retirement; and are prepared to accept significant fluctuations in the value of their investments even up to their normal retirement age in order to achieve a potential of long term returns, then they may consider Retirement Fund as their MPF investment solution.
Effective February 21, 2011, the seven new Retirement Funds are available under the Manulife Global Select (MPF) Scheme and Manu-Lifestyle (MPF) Scheme for members’ selection:
i. Manulife MPF 2045 Retirement Fund
ii. Manulife MPF 2040 Retirement Fund
iii. Manulife MPF 2035 Retirement Fund
iv. Manulife MPF 2030 Retirement Fund
v. Manulife MPF 2025 Retirement Fund
vi. Manulife MPF 2020 Retirement Fund
vii. Manulife MPF 2015 Retirement Fund
Retirement Fund is a mixed asset fund with its maturity date matching your retirement date. The investment portfolio will start with a relatively higher proportion of equity investments and fewer fixed income investments. As the Retirement Fund gets closer to its maturity date, the asset allocation strategy of the underlying portfolio will then become less aggressive and will contain more and more fixed-income securities. This rebalancing is carried out by the investment manager automatically on a regular basis.
If members find Retirement Funds suitable, they may then pick a fund with the maturity date that closely matches their planned retirement year based on normal retirement age*, and our investment specialists will take care of the hassle, allowing members to spend more time with their families and on their careers.
With the addition of these seven Retirement Funds, a total of 24 fund options will be available under the Manulife Global Select (MPF) Scheme, extending our fund variety from the existing equity, bond, sector and lifestyle-funds, and can cater for different members’ needs. A total of 12 fund options will be made available under the Manu-Lifestyle (MPF) Scheme to give our MPF members more convenient options.
