Canadian-based Manulife Financial has been conducting business in Hong Kong for more than one hundred years. Following is a brief chronology of the Company's history in Hong Kong.

In 2009, Manulife celebrated its 10th anniversary as a public company in Hong Kong. Manulife Financial was listed on the stock exchanges of Toronto, New York, Hong Kong and the Philippines in 1999. To commemorate a decade of success as a public company and look forward to future growth, the insurer announced that it would plant 75,000 trees around the worldin Asia, Canada and the United States.

> To cope with the company’s rapid expansion in the territory, Manulife signed a lease agreement to become the largest tenant at the grade-A commercial complex Kwun Tong 223, and subsequently re-named the building as Manulife Financial Centre. The signing of this new lease is integral to the company’s strategic growth plan for the Hong Kong market and is a clear reaffirmation of its long-term commitment to the territory.

Manulife continued to meet customers’ ever-changing needs in new services and products by launching a series of promotional initiatives and pioneering individual insurance, provident-fund and investment-fund products:

* Follow Me is the first medical "reserve" solution in the market to offer guaranteed premiums, a guaranteed increase in benefit limits and many other guaranteed options.
* Take Care is a comprehensive accident-insurance plan. Together with its rider attachment Take Care Personal Accident Benefit, the plan caters for customers looking for either a complete accident-protection solution or a top-up to supplement the medical and accident coverage provided by their employers.
* Asia Value Dividend Equity Fund, available on the Manulife Global Fund (MGF) platform, aims to help investors achieve capital appreciation through investing in a portfolio of equities-related securities of companies that distribute dividends and derive significant income from, or have significant operations in, the Far East ex-Japan region.
* Across-the-board management-fee reduction for MPF services helped alleviate members' financial burden in a year of challenging economic conditions and added value to their retirement benefits. The reduction is 0.35% per annum of net asset value for most funds.
